Athletic Artistry guides dancers to unlock their full potential with the opportunity to improve their technique, develop their athleticism, and explore the relationship between dance and cross-training. Through individualized instruction, group classes or weekend workshops dancers can achieve greater strength, flexibility, alignment, endurance and coordination while also refining their technique and artistic expression. We focus on creating the perfect balance between athleticism and artistry to help dancers reach their next level.
Class Descriptions
Progressing Ballet Technique
'PBT' is a body-conditioning and strengthening program focused on core strength, weight placement, alignment, elongation, balance and injury prevention. Implementing ballet-technique specific exercises enhance dancers technical training creating muscle memory and engagement of correct muscles in a progressive manner.
Equipment required: Mat, Yoga Ball, Pilates Ball, Band
Leap and Jumps Technique
Leaps and Jumps Technique class is focused on specific drills for strength, power, alignment and body mechanics required for proper execution of leaps & jumps. This class breaks down in detail the 'how to and why' from foundational basics to mastering more advanced skills. Perfect for those looking to expand their skills and refine technique. Classes for beginners, Intermediate and advanced dancers.
Technique Bootcamp is an intense training program focused on enhancing the athleticism, conditioning, flexibility, alignment, balance, technique and cardio endurance required to safely execute the physical demands required of todays dancers.

Flexibility Focus encourages correct alignment, body awareness and control to safely progress students effectively. Athletic Artistry believes in educating students and creating the perfect balance between strength and flexibility with emphasis on technique. Safely increase flexibility, mobility and ROM through both static and dynamic movement with an injury free progressive program.

Turn Technique
Turn Technique class focuses on refining and mastering fundamental basics to ensure a strong foundation for progressing to more advance turns. Dancers will improve their turning technique through barre work, center and across the floor excercises, strength drills, balance focus, alignment and proper body positioning. Classes for beginners, Intermediate and advanced dancers.​
Pilates is the perfect cross training for dancers creating long lean muscles through a balance of strengthening and stretching movements. Pilates can help increase range of motion and flexibility. For those struggling with hyper mobility pilates controls the movement with precision, strengthening muscles to avoid injury. Pilates is highly recommended to support dancer longevity and success.

Cheryl originates from Halifax Nova Scotia, Canada! Her love and passion for dance has allowed her to educate dancers at a highly competitive level throughout Canada and the US.
Athletic Artistry was founded in 2021 to bridge the gap between safe, effective cross training and enhancing the athleticism for artistic athletes. She has earned her certificates with British Association of Teachers of Dance, Progressive Ballet Technique, Alixa Flexibility, Acrobatic Arts and studies with United Taps Syllabus. She successfully trained dancers for their ADAPT Jazz and Tap dance examinations. She is also Certified Personal Trainer through Can-fit Pro and certified in Mat and Reformer Pilates.
In addition, Cheryl is a Registered TCM Acupuncturist. Her focus is treating the physical and mental demands of dancers, concentrating on rehabilitation, injury prevention, mental health and well-being with a thorough understanding of anatomy, biomechanics, physiology, neurology, immunology.
Cheryl recently created her own training program ‘Technique Bootcamp,’ a program focused on enhancing the athleticism, conditioning, flexibility, alignment, balance, technique and cardio training required to safely execute the physical demands required of todays dancers.
As a Mom of three children, Cheryl recognizes that each child learns differently. Her abilities to adapt her classes to meet her student’s needs and capabilities has allowed each student to flourish in their own individual ways. Cheryl loves traveling throughout Canada and the US facilitating Master Classes, participating in competitions, conventions and workshops with her students and two daughters .
